Meet the Chef
Hi there, Janet here. I am the Master Chef and owner of Akwaaba Eats.
I am an alumna of St Rose’s and Aburi Girls’ Secondary Schools, both in Ghana. A BSc. from the University of Cape Coast Ghana, an MSc. from BTU Germany, and MSc. in Education from Walden University, United States, and some years of teaching later, I’m your Master Chef at Akwaaba Eats. I am also an ANSI-accredited double certified food handler and food protection manager. The ANSI CFPM programs meet the highest standards in food safety and has been endorsed by both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Cooking has always been my passion. As a young girl, I enjoyed helping my mother in the kitchen. We made different kinds of foods and pastries which we gifted or sold to neighbours and friends. My mom’s home-cooked meals were always top-notch and I definitely got that gene from her.
I love cooking, and anyone who has tasted any of my dishes has relished every bite and wanted more. In November 2019, the idea came to mind to invite the world to enjoy my delicious gourmet dishes. This concept birthed Akwaaba Eats and we have never looked back. ‘Akwaaba’ in the Ghanaian Akan language means ‘Welcome’. This name was chosen because, at Akwaaba Eats, it is our expectation that all our patrons will feel welcomed and relaxed while talking to us, placing an order online, or enjoying our delicious meals.
At Akwaaba Eats we specialize in authentic Ghanaian cuisine. I believe that chefs who are self -taught or spend most of their time in the kitchen make the best chefs. I hope you will share this opinion with me after you have tasted Akwaaba Eats. Akwaaba Eats is located right in the heart of Newark Delaware. We offer pick up, delivery, and shipping to all 50 States. Take a look through our website and contact us to discover a whole new world of taste.
